Q: Johnny - saw you March '98 in Columbus, Ohio. Great show - took me 25 years
to get to see you! I was hoping you'd make us a regular stop. I see Akron, Ohio on your early April '99 schedule -
any chance you'll get to Columbus after that? Take care and a late Happy Birthday!
A: I hope to get to Columbus, Ohio soon. I have a lot of friends there. Keep watching my
schedule for tour dates.
Q: Just trying to figure out when you'll be getting down South Carolina way?
You gotta a loyal following down here Johnny. I know ya' hear a lot about it but how about some "Still alive and
well tunes" ? "Cheep Tequila," "To much Seconal" would sure rock. When I saw you in 74' or 75' at the big A in Anaheim
with Edgar and Rick Derringer well you just blew the place apart. That was a wild day, Bob Segar, Johnny &Edgar;, Blue
Oyster Cult and ZZ Top. Them days are gone but the music lives on. Johnny you stand the test of time...
A: You caught a great show at Anaheim. See you soon in South Carolina. I hope real soon.
Q: Sometime around 1990-91, Johnny did a show at Raoul's in Portland, Maine
(since closed). I don't remember the exact order of the set list but it was absolutely great!!! Jeff Ganz and Tom Compton.
He opened with: Sen-say-shun, Sugarcoated love, Don't take advantage of me, Be careful of a fool, Mojo Boogie,
Kindhearted woman, Johnny B Goode, encore: Its all over now and an instrumental in C. I don't know if I included
every tune, but this was the most amazing show of his I had ever seen. I hear that there is a copy out there.
Not from the board, but... Seems like this was one of the best set list I had heard and I didn't leave wanting.
As for some of the negative comments on this site. First I believe in people using a little bit of manners.
Opinions are like .... See some things are best left unsaid. This man is one of the greatest gifts to blues music
and deserves much respect. I am also grateful that this site exists. Thanks for listening!
A: Help me to establish some class and manners on my web site. See you in Portland, Maine.
Q: Out of all the performers I've seen, Johnny Winter is by far one of the
most talented guitar players ever. I had the privilege of seeing him perform for my first time at Raouls in
Portland Maine. Being a great fan of my husbands, who is also a great guitar player and has a strong Johnny Winter
influence, We enjoy his music regularly and wish he would come back to Portland Maine. We are both excited about
being able to communicate through the internet and I can't help but get a little disgusted about some negative
feedback. I guess some people just don't have any class or manners. Keep doing what you're doing! We really appreciate
your talent! Loving what you are able to do!
A: Help me to establish some class and manners on my web site. See you in Portland, Maine.
Q: JOHNNY, I SEE WE ARE GETTING A NEW VIDEO, NEW CD, AND ANOTHER TOUR. WHAT'S
THE CHANCE OF MAKING THIS YEAR COMPLETE BY GETTING A 4 CD BOX SET FROM COLUMBIA LEGACY TO COMMEMORATE YOUR 30 YRS
SINCE RELEASING THE GREAT DEBUT JOHNNY WINTER?
A: I never know what is in the minds of the Columbia Records people. I would like them
to release a 4 CD box set.
Q: How's going, I'm planning on going to the NY show (port Jarvis) next week--I
think next week. I saw you in MA a few weeks ago and had a great time. My wife even loved it, and she's -not into
blues. Have you selected all the new material for your next release? I wrote a song a few years back, and It's not
to bad actually can I send a copy, maybe you would like to use it? Well, it don't hurt to ask, right? Take it easy,
happy BDAY and keep the faith.
A: Send me whatever song you wrote. Thanks for coming to the Mass. show.
Q: I've lived abroad for more than 15 years, lived Ęsome time in Galveston,
Texas in the 80's when I definitely returned to Brazil to build my own business in spite of being a part-time
musician. Throughout these years rarely a good ROCK N' ROLL or Blues singer stepped in my country, unfortunately
only new fancy bands came trying to sell out their weird and meaningless songs. I do not consider myself as being
a "Fan" which sounds kinda stupid, I have you and all the old generation musicians deeper into my soul, your
songs and incomparable style are now part of my daily life, now I ask you, have you ever looked forward to play
in Brazil? It is my opinion that many people now on the 40's, like myself, would not loose such a special show.
Not pushing it to your side, I must say that there was never a living hero as you are, still well and alive.
Take care so you can keep doing what you like, sliding and bringing happiness to all of us.
A: No plans for Brazil yet. Thanks for caring.
Q: I saw a picture of you once playing a tele with a humbucker in the neck
position. What do you think of the tele? If I had Fender's custom shop make one up for you with your name on
the fretboard, would ya play a few songs on it in concert? ;) I was also wondering exactly which Music Man amp
are you playing thru these days?
A: Music Man with 4 speakers. I think they were the first Music Man to come out on the
market. I'm sorry they stopped making them. I don't think I could play the Tele in concert. If you have the guitar
made for you and I pass through your area, I will sign it.
Q: I saw Johnny Winter And in Atlanta at the Municipal Auditorium in 1971.
It was my first concert ever, the first of many. I have worn out several copies of the studio (vinyl) album and
still, after all these years, believe it's one of the greatest recordings of all time. I was a drummer in a
band in the mid-seventies and we always wanted to play Prodigal Son, but we just couldn't do it justice. I have
looked for the CD for years and found an import copy some time back. I had heard this wasn't an "official"
release and that the sound quality wasn't very good, so I didn't buy it. But, I have to have this album. Not
having it is causing me great anxiety. When are we to be blessed with this recording? I'm getting old (well,
middle aged anyway). Also, do you ever see Rick Derringer anymore? You guys sure did play well together. The
exchanges between you two on Funky Music still make me shake and shiver. The last time I saw you in Atlanta you
didn't look to be feeling very well (1997). But, even if that were true, when you played slide late in the set
you were awesome as always. Even sick, you're one of the greatest slide guitar players on the planet. I hope to
hear more soon. Be well and come back to Atlanta soon. You have a lot of fans here who love you.
A: Will have a studio album ready next year. I see Rick Derringer in NYC when I am
home. I was not sick in Atlanta, just tired. I'm not as young as I used to be.
Q: Hey! All you Kansas City fans-Join with me in asking Johnny W. to come
to our city! We need to see you Johnny! We luv ya!
A: I know my manager is working on some dates in KC. Keep watching my web site.
Q: Hey Johnny, The late great Keith Ferguson has always been one of my
favorite bass players. I've read that you two played together at one time. Is there any recordings of this?
That's gotta be some of the coolest lowdown stuff on earth!
A: I only have some old recording of Keith and I sure miss him.
Q: Johnny, I just saw Eric Sardinas perform at the Virgin Megastore here in
Costa Mesa, CA. After picking up his first CD "Treat Me Right" I noticed you and him do a duet on "Tired Of
Trying" and it sounded awesome. I was wondering if you plan on doing any shows in the Southern California area?
I will be in Austin over April so I hope I will be able to catch you at one of the shows at Antones.
A: Working on a West Coast tour for August - keep watching my web site.
Q: Hey Johnny I'm a little to old to be acting like a love struck GROUPIE.
So why should I pay to join your fan club just to get a forged JW HandCock? Like you have all the time in the
world to do this kind of shit anyway. Anyway for $35.00 I could see you play live right? I'll say no more.
Thanks Joe. B
A: Joe B - Do what you think is best.
Q: Do you plan on coming to Chicago or the Indiana area any time soon?
I'd love to see you in concert.
A: Please keep watching my web site for dates in Chicago or Indiana.
Q: I just got this computer and am overwhelmed to see this! Like
everyone else I have been a fan forever. I did a blues radio show for a while (public radio -WFIT in
Melbourne Fla.) and played tons of Johnny, I use to get slack sometimes for playing so much Johnny and Muddy
TOO BAD!! I have seen Johnny several times live and always have enjoyed it. I have a signed poster from Orlando,
thank you Johnny. I have never gotten to meet you (they would not let me on the bus). I have turned a number of
guitar players on to your music and am constantly giving away and buying new CDs to keep your music alive. I
recall some blues tribute on MTV once that you made a cameo appearance on. Do you recall that? I am trying to
get some video of you and you and muddy but have not had much luck any hints? Also I thought you did a PBS thing
(acoustic)? with muddy?? Anyhow like I said new to cyber and will be back.
A: Don't remember the blues tribute on MTV - sorry.
Q: Say old bro next time you play in Myrtle Beach, SC at the House of Blues.
Or any other gig in South Carolina you need to stop by ol' Mt. Pleasant and go fishing. You have a standing
invitation for a day on the blue water and you can bring Tattoo also. Keep playing bro.
A: Thanks for the invite.
Q: I have Johnny Winter And, vinyl CBS, very worn, much loved. Can I get a
CD or another vinyl anywhere?
A: Not sure if Sony is pressing any vinyl. Sorry about Johnny Winter And. Wish I had
a copy for you.
Q: I saw Edgar in a beer commercial yesterday while watching car racing and
was curious, if you could endorse something what would it be? It could be a product or a public service
announcement, like stay in school, don't do drugs...or maybe play a musical instrument...? :) Ps! did you get
the picture I sent you? :)
A: If I was to endorse something it would most likely be "Stay in school and don't do drugs".
Q: Johnny, Sooooo many people in the Southwest Louisiana/Southeast Texas
area enjoy listening to your music, especially since you are a local boy. We wanted to know if you would be
interested in doing a benefit concert at the Lake Charles Civic Center some time this year.
A: I would love to tie in the Lake Charles benefit with other dates in the area.
Please keep an eye on my web site and if some dates are in your area, please contact me again.
