Q: I have some questions about recording JW material. My band is
getting ready to make our first CD to use in our promotional package. We would like to cover some of
JW songs. Could you please e-mail or post a response on the Forum any info that would be helpful? Thank
you! You can e-mail me at [email protected]
A: If you are making your 1st CD, concentrate on your own material. Cover my
songs for your 2nd CD.
Q: Dear Johnny, I've been trying to think of the song title that you
would frequently open-up with back around '84-'86 time frame, it sounds like a Freddie King song but it's
not HIDEAWAY or SEN-SA-SHUN. Usually the second song you followed with was "Don't take advantage of me."
Could you please let me know the song title and Artist. Thanks
A: Not sure what song I opened with in 84-86. Sorry!
Q: As a great virtuoso guitarist you have put out an immense body of
work. I was wondering if you had any favorites from your work that you could share with us. We all have
our own favorites from your work, mine being: Hustled Down in Texas, Be careful with a fool, Memory Pain,
Too Much Seconal, The Sky is Crying. It would be great to hear from you what you thought some of your best
work was or what you enjoy playing the most.
A: I like Memory pain and The Sky is Crying. I have so many favorites it is hard
for me to choose.
Q: I don't know if you collect stuff, but I do. I collect anything about
Johnny Winter and Roger Waters. Collecting is a hobby. Where do you think we draw the line in that case? I
know Boots are not legit, how about buying ticket stubs, autograph or any kind of memorabilia on you. You
don't get money for that so as boots! What do you think about it? If you have a chance go to http://www.ebay.com/
and you know what I mean.Other thing, I would love to her "Let Me In" on show next time. Mr. Winter, just
play the blues.
A: Collecting autographs and photos are the best.
Q: Hey Johnny! I was reading a newspaper article on the weekend talking
about volumes of sales. I remember you saying in an interview once that "Let me In" sold 300,000 (damn good for blues)!
What's your biggest seller? If I had to guess I'd say either the first Columbia or the studio JW AND. Do you know
how many units they sold?
A: Johhny Winter And sold very well. Not sure of the stats, sorry!
Q: Hi Johnny. I purchased a couple of photographs of you and Stevie Ray Vaughn
together backstage at a gig. Do you have this picture? If not, it would be a pleasure to see that you get one. Thanks
for the pleasure you have given me through your inspirational music...
A: I have the photo of Stevie Ray and myself. Thanks for the offer.
Q: A couple of days ago I was listening to the radio were someone was talking about
this summers program at the "Molde Jazzfestival." Among names like Ray Charles Carla Blay and others, I'm almost 100%
sure he mentioned Johnny Winter as one of the top acts. I'm a big fan of you and always wanted to see you live, and if
you are coming to Molde I'll be there! Can you Johnny or someone in your management at this time confirm that you are
coming to Norway?
A: Please watch my web site for info on upcoming tours.
Q: Canada-Any chance of you coming north any time soon? It's getting warmer and
the snow's almost gone!
A: Please watch my web site for info on upcoming tours.
Q: I was wondering, why doesn't Johnny do too many Connecticut dates? I love
Johnny and it would be a great pleasure to see him live, and maybe to get to shake hands with him. he has been a great
driving force behind my music and an inspiration in my life as well as a bunch of others here and we want to see what
he does best, play that rock and roll!!!
A: Please watch my web site for info on upcoming tours.
Q: Are you really giving a concert in Luxembourg, if so what other places are
you planning to tour in Europe
A: Please watch my web site for info on upcoming tours.
Q: Oh wow, oh wow! First off, I gots to tell ya, you saved my life at least
2 times (you and, a BIG bottle of booze) I swear when I was 'broke and lonely' and thinking suicide, your music
helped bring me back. God bless you anywho, enough gushing my question is, why isn't "Johnny and Edgar Together"
made into a CD and put into every, and I mean EVERY juke box in the world. I'm telling ya, with music coming
around again (the next generation of kids) and all those classics done oh so gracefully by you and the band(s)
I mean I would like to prove it to ya. I looking forward to seeing you at the coach house in Aug of 99.' I went
to the show at the Hollywood 'house of blues' last year, but I missed the first part because my better-half is
medicated by doctors too. And I know some days are better than others. After finding a hotel room for her I made
it back to the house of blues. Afterwards you sighed a custom chalked portrait of you that I've had for 20 years
I almost didn't get it sighed but with the help of Cory Stevens it happened, I'm a true "WinterHead"!
A: Hi Winterhead. Both Edgar and I want our own records at the moment.
Q: Great site, glad you are touring, looking forward to the possibility of an acoustic
set, I'll be there!! Stay healthy, sincerely, David Aplin
A: I am starting to pick up my acoustic guitar again.
Q: When are you coming to Memphis (home of the blues) or in the vicinity. We would
love to see you again. Please lets us fans in Memphis know something. Thanks!!!!
A: Keep checking the web site. Memphis here I come!

seen him live I want to arrange a "Arctic tour in a number of Greenland city's Like Qaortoq, Nanortalik, Narsaq,
Paamiut + more. How can I do that Sorry about my english. Sincerely, Hans.
A: I just came back from Finland - maybe Greenland on the next time through.
Q: I am Johnny's fan. I live in JAPAN. I wish Johnny's play in JAPAN. Thanks you.
A: Japan is next on the list to visit, hopefully next year.
Q: I'm a fan of yours from Barcelona, Spain. I went to see you yesterday to the
concert you gave at the "poble Espanyol" and I have to say that, after the first shock I had when I saw you so thin
and low-motioned - I really worried about you - , Then -I REALLY enjoyed the show. I thought "hey, this man really
cares about us, their fans, he really IS strong and lives the blues to the bone, to go playing around !! " Seeing you
playing like this made me admire you even more, if possible. I just wanted to thank you for coming to my town and
make me thrill like only you know - THANK YOU, JOHNNY, YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE ME FEEL ALIVE, Jordi Delgado, Barcelona - Spain.
A: Thanks! I really enjoyed Spain.
Q: I'm interested in knowing when he's sliding back through Iowa again.
A: Hopefully next year.
Q: Just a quick question. I recently purchased a CD and songbook called Texas
Blues Master. The songs on the CD, to name a few are: Parchment Farm, Messin with the kid, Leavin blues, Kindhearted
woman, 38-32.20 blues. I was wondering if this was an official CD and book or another bogus CD and book that someone
managed to produce without authorization?
A: Texas Blues Master is a bogus, Sorry!!!
Q: Mr. Winter, I discovered your music (and Edgar's as well) several years
ago in college. Since then I've managed to collect almost all of your official releases. I have avoided the
unofficial or bootleg CDs. Your guitar playing is pure inspiration, and your voice is like that of an old friend,
there during the good times and the bad. I have two questions, answer at your discretion. First, will you and Edgar
ever do a full length recording together, live or studio? Second, I am having a difficult time finding the albums
"Johnny Winter And" and "John Dawson Winter III." They appear to be out of print, at least on CD. Will they be re-released
anytime soon? Thanks and take care of yourself, Joe Eversole
A: I hope to have Edgar on my next studio album. I will ask Sony about re-releases.
Q: What are you currently using for an amp? What kind of speakers? As a fan,
I can't get enough. As a musician, you blow me away. Love your playing Johnny.
A: Two 4x10 Music Man's.
